Our Greatest Glory

I'm finally home from school! And Dorothy was right...there's no place like home!

I didn't have much time for stamping today, but I did make this card with one of the new JustRite Stampers sets called Hope . I have always loved this sentiment, and know I can put this card to good use.

I stamped both the sentiment and the frame on designer paper from the My Mind's Eye Dusk Meadowlark paper kit. I used Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. I colored the hearts in the frame using a #703 Pink Rose Tombow marker.

The frame, Intense Pink Prismatics layer, and the black layer were all cut and embossed using Spellbinders Labels Twelve .

All designer paper on the card is from the Dusk Meadowlark paper kit. The distressing was done with my favorite new Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink . The ribbon is May Arts Crochet . The Kaisercraft pearls were colored with a RV34 Copic Marker.

Thanks for stopping by! I will be back Tuesday morning with an important announcement. I hope you will in again then. In the meantime, have a save and happy Memorial Day!

Have A Wonderful Day!

I am busy studying for my test tomorrow morning, but decided to take a quick break to post something on my poor neglected blog. As soon as the test is over I will be on the road home. It's about a 4.5 hour drive, and I can't wait to get there!!! Home sweet home! :)

I made this card a couple of weeks ago and never posted it. I just couldn't decide whether I liked it or not. But since I'm in a pinch for things to post while I'm away at school I decided, what the heck! I will see what YOU think!
All stamps are from the Penny Black Wonderful Day clear stamp set. I stamped the images on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder, then colored with Tombow Markers .

All designer paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety 6 x 6 paper pad. The cardstock is Classic Red Prismatics , Classic Yellow Prismatics and Intense Kiwi Prismatics .

I added mini rhinestones to the corners and sentiment panel using a Quickie Glue Pen for adhesive.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Tim Holtz Distress Inks

When I have NO MOJO and can't seem to do anything else, I tend to organize. Now under those circumstances you would think my studio should be very well organized, wouldn't you? Ha!
I spent a few minutes last weekend organizing my new Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads .

This chart is a must for those of you who don't keep your ink pads out in plain sight. You can find the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Chart on the Ranger website. I simply printed mine on white cardstock and stamped each color with a solid stamp. I tried to use plenty of ink and good pressure so I know the "darkest" shade of the ink. It's also a great way to keep up with which colors you have so you don't buy duplicates.

As soon as I have the other three colors I will laminate this, or keep it in a sheet protector along with my Tombow Marker Chart .

This is a photo of a few of my distress inks. You can get the Distress PDF Label Sheet File on the Ranger Ink website as well.

I printed the file on Avery 18167 labels. Each label measures 1/2" x 1 3/4", and it's the perfect size. I'm pretty sure I bought my labels at WalMart. I had already labeled my Distress Inks a while back, but needed to update for the new colors. So I decided to use a different stamp for the ink on the newer ones.

It's great if you can keep these on your desk, but if not, the chart above works perfectly for choosing your colors.

I'm still in Baton Rouge...going to class all day then studying until bedtime at night. I will be SO GLAD to start toward home after my test on Friday! Three more sleeps to go? Geez!

Lynette and an Important Announcement

Before I get to the card, I wanted to let all of you know that I am leaving town around noon tomorrow (Sunday), and will not return until Friday evening, May 28. Unfortunately, I'm in for a whole week of classes ending with a test on Friday. Ugh! Not fun, but quite necessary in order to keep my certification current for my *real* job.

All orders placed before I leave will ship on Monday. Those placed after that will be shipped as soon as I return. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

This adorable image is from Sarah Kay, and is called Lynette Collecting Her Vegetables . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The image was colored using Tombow Markers and a damp paint brush to blend.

I sponged around the top of the card using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink .

The designer paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety 6 x 6 paper pad. I used my Ric Rac Diamond Borderability from Spellbinders to make the red and green borders around the band in the center. I added a tiny red button to the corner and threaded it with Green Burlap String .

I plan to have a couple of posts scheduled while I'm away, so it won't seem like I'm really gone! :) Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Birthday Princess

My only granddaughter is SO into the princess thing. She loves ANYTHING princess...pajamas, purses, toys. So I think I really need to save this for her next birthday! It would make her giggle. And that would make me happy.

The stamps are from the Birthday Princess Pure Innocence set by My Favorite Things. Those children are just too, too cute, and so easy to color or paper piece. For this one, I paper pieced the dress and crown, and colored everything else with Tombow Markers . Using my Quickie Glue Pen for an adhesive, I added some Crystal Ultrafine Glitter to the cake, crown and her shoes. Girls like to sparkle, you know.

I stamped the sentiment on Iced Pink Prismatics and cut it out with a Spellbinders Labels One Nestability die. It is layered with Intense Pink Prismatics paper.

The designer paper is from the My Mind's Eye Mary, Mary collection...which sold out before I got a chance to use it! The punch is from Martha Stewart.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.

Penny Black Mixed Media

I know...this is NOT my usual Penny Black style, but I actually like it, and it felt good to get a little outside my comfort zone.
The stamp I used is Penny Black's Mixed Media rubber stamp. Very "collagey", don't you think? I stamped it on watercolor paper with Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed using JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The flowers were colored with a red Tombow Marker . I added a bit of green Prismacolor pencil to the stems, and sponged the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink .

All the designer paper is from the new My Mind's Eye Dusk Paper Kit . The flower in the circle is a punch out included in the kit, which I colored with a red Tombow marker. I layered it with two flowers cut from the Blossom Nestabilities .

The cardstock is Classic Red Prismatics and Black Prismatics . The red trim is from my stash. I added three clear Dew Drops to the upper left side for balance and dimension.

I hope you're all having a great week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Go Bananas!

Even though I didn't in much stamping time this weekend, I did manage to get a lot of other things done and crossed off my ever-growing list! I did, however, take time to play along in a challenge. Actually, this is for TWO challenges. I can't believe I managed to do THAT!

The first challenge is from JustRite Inspirations to create a card for kids. I also used the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 69 for my layout!

The image I used is from the JustRite Let's Celebrate 2" Square stamp set. I stamped twice on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow Markers . I cut the monkey and banana from the second stamping and popped it up with foam tape for dimension.

I made the decorative mat using my new Martha Stewart Optic Dot Punch Set . All the designer paper on the card is from the NEW Cosmo Cricket Delovely paper pad. The Aqua Rhinestones were added for a little bling. The yellow cardstock is Primatics Classic Yellow .

The inside of the card is blank. I think it would be perfect to tuck a little money inside to send a deserving grandchild for a great report card. I feel sure they will agree. :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Polka Dot Flowers?

I've gotta tell you, this card was really FUN to make!

I started with Hero Arts Big Flowers clear stamp set, and stamped the polka dot flower 4 times...once each on different paper. As you can see from the sample, each of the smaller three was cut away to layer smaller flowers on top of the polka dot flower. I stamped the leaf twice, then colored in a few of the dots with a Tombow Marker. The cardstock used for the yellow flower is Sunflower Medium Prismatics .

All the designer paper is different patterns from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper pad.

The sentiment is from JustRite Stampers Seeds of Kindness . It was cut and embossed using Spellbinders Labels One Nestabilities . I added a bit of Yellow Stickles to the butterfly on the sentiment. Clear Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest were added for texture and balance.

Thanks for stopping by to spend a few moments of your day with me.

Make Mine A Double

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day! Mine was simply AWESOME! ALL my grands were here, both of my sons, and some very special friends joined us as well. It couldn't have been better!

Before everyone arrived I managed to make this card. I had been itching to ink up this stamp since I got them in stock. It's My Favorite Things Make Mine A Double Pure Innocence stamp.

I stamped her on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then colored with Tombow Markers . Her dress was paper pieced, and I added some Lime Stickles to the ice cream. I used Spellbinders ovals to cut and emboss, and the Big Scalloped Ovals cut in Intense Pink Prismatics to layer.

The scallops were made using Spellbinders Big Scalloped Borderabilities . I added lime green Mini Rhinestones to her shoes and just outside the scallops. All designer paper is from the Basic Grey Green At Heart 6 x 6 paper pad.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have marvelous Monday!

For today's card I used the new JustRite Applique 2" Square Borders and Centers . I stamped on Spring Willow Light Prismatics cardstock using Jumbo Java VersaMagic ink. I used Prismacolor pencils to add a little color, then put a Chocolate Pearl in the center of two of them. The green pearl was colored with a Copic marker to match.

The decorative square layer behind the Applique images is from the Spellbinders Fair Isle Pendants set. The designer paper is from the October Afternoon Fly A Kite paper pad. The brown cardstock is Suede Brown Dark and the darker green cardstock is Spring Willow Medium Prismatics.

The sentiment was framed with a Lotus Pendant cut and embossed using Frosted Pink Prismatics cardstock. I added pink Mini Pearls around the Lotus Pendant for a little extra bling.
