You Make Me Smile

I made this card a few weeks ago to send to a friend. I didn't want to post it on my blog until after he received it. But since he hasn't made me smile lately, I never mailed it. The good news (if there is any) is that I can post it now! MEN! Geez! Haha!
This stamp is one of my all time favorites from Northwoods Rubber Stamps and is appropriately called Geranium Pot . Clever how they came up with that, huh? I stamped it with Onyx Black Versafine ink, and colored with Tombow Markers . You won't believe how super easy this image is to color! Really!!!

The sentiment is Penny Black's You Make Me Smile wood mounted stamp. The two little rhinestones are from Zva Creative's Mini Rhinestones . All designer paper is from the NEW Cosmo Cricket Odds & Ends 6 x 6 Paper Pad .

Since my card base is black, I needed to do something to the inside so I could write a message or stamp another sentiment. Above you can see what I came up with using scraps of paper from the front. Simple, yet dressed up enough to make a statement, I think.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope someone makes YOU smile, and that you have a fabulous week!

Easter Bunny Blessings

I guess I'm preparing for Easter. After all, it's only a couple of weeks away!

The stamp I used for this card is one of my all time favorite spring stamps from Northwoods Rubber Stamps. It's called Bunny With Tulips . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The image was then colored using Tombow Markers blended with a damp paint brush.

I cut and embossed the image using Spellbinders Labels Twelve Nestabilities .

The sentiment is Northwoods Classic Easter Blessings . It was cut using Spellbinders Fancy Tags Shapeabilities . I cut one more "end" from the Fancy Tags and added it to each side. I am soooooo disappointed that the purple ribbon in this photo looks blue. And I have no idea why!

The designer paper is from the NEW Basic Grey Kioshi 6 x 6 paper pad. I added a small piece of May Arts Lavendar Reversible Satin Ribbon to the corner, then placed three Lilac Rhinestones to make a corner treatment.

The cardstock used is Majestic Purple Light and Herbal Garden Dark Prismatics.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I will be back Tuesday morning (if not before) for the JustRite March Mega Hop!

Until then...

Gerbera Daisies

On Friday I received a new shipment of stamps from Northwoods Rubber Stamps . Be sure to see them in the store! There is some pure gorgeousness there!
Of course, I couldn't wait to ink one of them, so I chose this beautiful new stamp called Gerbera Daisies in Vase . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The image was colored using Tombow Markers and a damp paint brush.

The designer paper is from the Basic Grey Sugar Rush paper pad. The cardstock is Intense Yellow and Papaya Puree Dark Prismatics . The ribbon is 1" White Sheer by May Arts.

Please be sure to come back tomorrow morning. I will be making an exciting announcement that you won't want to miss!

Until then...have a Super Sunday! :)

We Three Kings

Sorry I've been absent most of the week. I've been working on other things for the store and trying to prepare for a dinner I'm having for 25 people this coming Tuesday. Much to do with decorating, cleaning house...you know the routine! And I DO need to start my Christmas shopping soon! Yikes!

Anyway, I did manage to make this card. I felt the need to color, so I got out my Tombow Markers to watercolor this image. It is one of my most favorite classic Christmas stamps called We Three Kings and it's from Northwoods Rubber Stamps.

The sentiment is Script Merry Christmas also from Northwoods. Isn't that a pretty font? The cardstock is Majestic Purple Prismatics . I used a little gold metallic paper for layering as well.

My friend Tosh made a gorgeous card using this stamp last year. You can see her card on THIS POST .

Thanks for stopping by today!

My Little Chickadees...

I'm still working on using some of my favorite (and neglected) Christmas stamps! This one is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps and it's called Chickadee Holiday .

I stamped on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. I colored with Tombow Markers blending with a damp paintbrush.

To give some sparkle and dimension to the snow I topped with White Opal Liquid Pearls then sprinkled on Crystal Ultrafine Glitter .

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Holiday Messages Sparkle Clear Set . It was still on my desk from the card I posted yesterday! I stamped the sentiment on Blush Red Prismatics dark, then cut it with my Spellbinders Labels One Nestabilities .

The green cardstock is Herbal Garden Prismatics dark. The designer paper is from my stash, and the punch used for the side border is from Martha Stewart.

I hope you're all having a great week. The weather here has been just beautiful after the tornado we had last Thursday. We are all soaking up some sunshine and enjoying the days without rain.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog today. I appreciate your kindness and encouraging comments.

Pink Poinsettias

I've been playing with some of my *classic* stamps this week. I consider this one a classic because for me it will never go out of style. From year to year, it's always favorite.

The image is Northwoods Pot with Poinsettia and Pine . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The image was colored using Tombow Markers and a damp paint brush.

I added Crystal Ultrafine Glitter to some of the poinsettia and the snowflakes on the bow.

The sentiment is Impression Obsession's Merry Christmas . I stamped it on Frosted Pink Prismatics paper, cut and embossed with my Fancy Tags die cut, then cut out the sentiment and adhered it to the Herbal Garden fancy tag. The designer paper is from the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper pad.

If you would like to see more samples using this stamp, there are a couple more for you in the Northwoods Gallery in the store.

I think that covers it. Thanks for stopping by today!

Wispy Witch

I think this just might be my favorite Halloween stamp! Okay...I may say that at least once more before Halloween gets here. LOL!
I SO loved coloring this Wispy Witch from Northwoods Rubber Stamps! All I did was stamp it on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I embossed with Detail Clear embossing powder, and colored with my Tombow Markers . I added a little Orange Peel Stickles to the buckle on her belt and shoes for some sparkle.

The patterned paper is from my stash. I used a Martha Stewart Bats Corner Punch on all four corners of the orange dp. Then I punched some bats out of black cardstock and adhered them to the main panel using my Quickie Glue Pen .

The cardstock is Kiwi Prismatics and Majestic Purple .

I'm hurriedly writing this on my lunch hour, so I hope I didn't miss anything. If I did, be sure to let me know.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog today!

Winter Birdhouses

As I said yesterday, it was a wild and crazy weekend with the grands here. But I DID manage to make one card before all the craziness began!

The stamp I used for this card is Northwoods Tree Trunk Birdhouses rubber stamp. I chose this one because I haven't colored anything in a while and I felt the need. It's so relaxing to me!

I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow Markers and a damp paint brush.

The designer paper is Basic Grey Wassail and the cardstock is Prismatics Blush Red Dark and Prismatics Herbal Green.

The panels on each side and on the bottom of the inside were cut using my Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities. I added two Robin's Nest Dew Drops to each side of the front panel for texture and balance.

The sentiment on the inside is Northwoods Script Merry Christmas . I just love that beautiful font!

I hope you're all having a great Tuesday! Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog today.

Swallowtail on Sunflower

It seems that I haven't colored an image from Northwoods Rubber Stamps in a while, so I chose this one for some good watercolor therapy! It's called Closed Wing Swallowtail on Sunflower . Now that's a mouthful, isn't it?

I stamped on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow (water based) markers and a damp paint brush for blending.

I stamped once again on a scrap of watercolor paper just to get the butterfly. After coloring, I cut it out and popped it up with foam tape for dimension.

The edges of the main panel were aged using Vintage Photo Distress Ink applied with an Ink Sweeper .

The lattice punch is from Martha Stewart. The designer paper is from my stash. The cardstock is Classic Red Prismatics and Sunflower Prismatics dark.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to register for Tosha's Blog Candy if you haven't already. It's AWESOME!!!

Lily Cross

It's been pretty wild here at the Rodgers household this weekend. Both of my sons and three of the grands are here. We've been making cards for everyone they know! LOL! Needless to say, there wasn't much stamping going on for me! But that's okay. I can always stamp when they aren't here to entertain me. :-)

I started this card before they got here yesterday...and finished it up while they were taking their baths. Geez...I don't know how you moms do it with little ones around!!! The stamp I used is Northwoods Lily Cross . It's such a beautiful stamp, and so appropriate for the season.

I stamped on watercolor paper, then colored using Tombow (water based) markers. I did my shading using a damp paint brush. After coloring the image I cut it out and placed it over the ovals cut with my Spellbinders petite ovals. The ovals were lightly distressed using Antique Linen Distress Ink .The background was embossed using a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.

The cardstock used is Sunflowers Prismatics light medium and dark. The lighter green is Spring Willow Prismatics medium. The darker green note card is
Herbal Garden Prismatics dark.

The oval panels and the cross were popped up using Scotch foam tape. This last picture is just to show you the dimension.

I'd better get back to the kiddos. They are much too quiet, and that usually means trouble!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Openings in heaven...

I think you will all agree that sympathy cards are probably the most difficult for us to make. I've worked on this one on and off for 3 days now, and I'm still not happy with it. But I finally just decided this is it...I can't tweak it any more. It's time to move on.

The stamp I used is Northwoods Closed Wing Swallowtail on Flower . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored with Tombow (water based) markers and a damp paint brush.

Since these images cover pretty much the entire card front I don't usually do much embellishing. But since I wanted this card to be extra special I used a Martha Stewart punch to make a border on the bottom, as well as the corner piece. I added three self adhesive pearls to the corner piece for a little dimension. The two strips of blue ribbon on the bottom border are from my stash.

For the sentiment on the side I made a panel using my Curved Rectangle Mega Nestabilities . The sentiment I stamped is from Impression Obsession's Sympathy Sentiments clear stamp set.

You see, the reason I felt such intense pressure in making this card is because it is for my sons extended family.

My boys father, my ex-husband, passed away Saturday afternoon after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was only 58 years old. He was a minister, and spent his entire adult life preaching the word of God. He is now with Our Father in the Kingdom of Heaven.

He was deeply loved, and he will be missed. May he rest in peace, forever.

You Bless Me

This is one of those cards that went a totally different direction than what I had in mind when I started it! I was having a lot of trouble with *missing Mojo* so I just let what little I had run wild! LOL!

The Plaid Bow and Ribbon rubber stamps are from Northwoods. I stamped each one twice on Neenah Solar White cardstock using Onyx Black Versafine ink. The stamped images were colored with Tombow (water based) markers.

The bow is two layers, with the center of the bow popped up with foam tape for dimension.

The white panel was embossed using my Heart Blocks Cuttlebug folder.

The sentiment is Wordsworth's You Bless Me rubber stamp. It was cut and embossed with a Spellbinders Heart die cut.

It's a pretty simple card, but I think someone will enjoy receiving it.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I will have something else for you soon.

Until then...

Easter Blessings...and a winner!

I may be rushing Easter just a tad, but I couldn't resist coloring this cute image. It's Northwoods Bunny With Tulips . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow (water based) markers and a damp paint brush. The squares were cut and embossed using my square Nestabilities.

The sentiment is Northwoods Classic Easter Blessings . After stamping and embossing, I cut it with my Spellbinders Double Ended Tags die.

The pink border on the bottom was made with a Spellbinders Pierceability. I added Hero Arts Assorted 2 mm Gemstones and Assorted 3 mm gemstones to the points. I also used them for the flower centers.

The designer paper is from my stash, and the cardstock is Majestic Purple Prismatics medium and Razzleberry Prismatics (currently on reorder). The ribbon is purple sheer by May Arts.

So.....I guess you probably wanna know who won the Dreamy Treats, now don't ya? Drumroll please....

Blackeyed Susan and Butterflies

I have had this gorgeous Northwoods stamp for a while, and just now found time to color it. I DO LOVE to color my Northwoods stamps! This one is called Blackeyed Susan and Butterflies .

I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder.

The stamped image was colored with Tombow (water based) markers and a damp paintbrush.

I stamped the image once again and cut out some of the flowers and the butterflies, colored them, then popped them up using foam tape.

The sentiment I used is Penny Black's Eternal Bliss . (And it's on sale in the store!) I stamped it then cut it using my Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio die. Before taking it out of the die I sponged a little lavender ink.

The main panel was cut out using my Spellbinders Curved Rectangles Mega Nestabilities . The size I used was the second from the largest in the set. The notecard was cut using the largest size. This is the first card base I've made using the Nestabilities, and I actually like it!

The ribbon is purple sheer by May Arts.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I will be back before I leave Saturday morning for CHA!

Until then...

Tea Cup with Flowers

As much as I enjoyed Christmas this year, I'm happy to be making something besides Christmas cards! Is it just me? Or is everyone ready to move on?

This is a Northwoods stamp called Tea Cup with Flowers . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow (water based) markers and a damp paint brush.

I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to emboss the purple piece in the center to add a bit of texture. The cardstock I used is Majestic Purple Prismatics light and medium, and Pink Prismatics medium. The ribbon is May Arts .

I'm off to start taking down the Christmas tree and get it back in the attic for another year. But I'm thinking I may need a bit of a nap first! :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by. I have something new ready for you tomorrow.

Until then...

Christmas Cards...

It is such a special joy to receive handmade cards in the mail...especially when they are as beautiful as these!

The first card is from my dear friend and Dream Team member, Denise Marzec . Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? She used the Northwoods Holly, Pinecones & Ribbon stamp. Her coloring is just beautiful, and I love how she used the Spellbinders Double Ended Tags die cut for the sentiment.

Thanks, my friend...your card and special note totally made my day! :-)

This fabulous card was made by my good friend Carolyn aka Cammie, also on the Dream Team. She used the Impression Obsession Partridge In A Pear Tree stamp. The sentiment is from the JustRite Christmas Stamp Ensemble .

Don't you just love her ribbon treatment and gorgeous coloring?

Thanks Cam! Your card totally rocks...and so do you, girlfriend! :-)

Oh yes....the drawing for the Stamper's Dream Dreamy Challenge! I wrote each name on a piece of paper, folded them and then drew a name. The first name I drew is Cheryl!

Blessed Night...

I bought this image because I thought it would be perfect for the men on my Christmas list. Not too sweet...not too frilly. For that reason I stayed away from bright colors, going for a more natural look. I do think when I use this stamp again I will brighten it up a bit.

The image is Northwoods Blessed Night . I stamped it on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Detail Clear embossing powder. The stamped image was colored using Tombow (water based) markers.

To cover up a little a mistake I made, I stamped a portion of the image once more, and cut it out. You may notice that the largest tree is popped up with foam tape. Don't you love it when you can fix a boo-boo? I added a touch of Yellow Stickles to the star for emphasis and sparkle.

The corners are small diagonal pieces of cardstock. The green ones were cut with Deckle scissors and popped up with foam tape. The rhinestones are Kaiser Craft Bronze Rhinestones . I really wanted to use more bling or ribbon, but in trying to keep it masculine, I contained myself! LOL!

The sentiment on the inside of the card is Northwoods All Nature Whispers . Again, I think it works well for a masculine card. Louisiana is called the "Sportsmen's Paradise". And all the men on my Christmas list are hunters and outdoorsmen.

The yellow/gold cardstock is Sunflower Prismatics dark. The card base is Suede Brown Dark , and the green is Sage Prismatics .

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to get some stamping time this weekend, so I will be back with something else soon.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Birthday Gift Card

First things first! I am sure that by now many of you have heard the sad news about Laurie Schmidlin. Yesterday her daughter had an MRI, and they found a brain tumor. Devastating news, indeed! Laurie and Urs left VERY early this morning taking her to Seattle where she will have a biopsy to determine if the tumor is cancerous. She has some swelling in her brain, and they are concerned about that. As soon as we get more news from Laurie I will be sure to let you all know.

PLEASE, keep them in your prayers. I sent cards to both Laurie and Ali today. And I am encouraging each of you to send cards to them as well. It's the least thing we can do. She needs to know how much we love her, and how much we care. If you would like to send cards, please email me for Laurie's address.

Remember this card from a couple of weeks ago? It's one of my favorite Christmas cards!I used the same stamps to make a card which I was going to post later the same week, but the stamps sold out so I never posted it. Well, the stamps are NOW back in stock!

This card was really pretty quick and easy. I stamped Northwoods Plaid Bow and Ribbon on pink cardstock using Sepia Versafine ink. I sponged a little pink ink on the bows for a bit of contrasting color. Then I cut out the bows and popped them up with foam tape for dimension.

The stamps I used for the Happy Birthday card are from the Hero Arts Cupcakes clear design set. I used my rectangle Nestabilities scallop die to cut and emboss the pink card.

I even decorated the inside with one of the small flowers from the Hero Arts Cupcake set. I have Densie to thank for that. She always does something on the inside of her cards, and I just love the way it looks!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Chickadee Holiday

Sorry I'm so late posting tonight. It's been a bit crazy, but I was determined to post before I call it a night.

This gorgeous stamp is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps. In fact, I just received a shipment from them tonight. It's called Chickadee Holiday . Isn't it a beautiful stamp? I absolutely LOVE it, and it was sooooo much fun to color!

I stamped on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine ink, then embossed with JudiKins Clear Detail embossing powder.

The stamped image was colored with Tombow (water based) markers and blended with a damp paint brush.

The sentiment is Merry Christmas from Impression Obsession. It is the perfect size for my Spellbinders Double Ended Tags die cut. I adhered Pearls from Kaiser Craft to each end of the tag.

The red cardstock is Blush Red Dark Prismatics, and that rich green is Sage Prismatics Dark .

I know this is short, sweet, and to the point. But hey...it's late and time for my evening nap! LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I will be back soon.
