Rolodex Art - Part 2

If you missed Part 1, you can find it HERE.  This is Part 2 of the Rolodex I made for my friend's birthay.  Just a few more cards for you:
I used a Stampin' Up scallop punch for the border.  The sentiment stamp is a Plain Jane from The Verve Store.  I didn't see this particular one on her website, so it may be sold out or discontinued.
The sentiment on this card is from a sticker sheet I found at Hobby Lobby.  The decorative strip and flower are Washi tape from my stash.

For this card I printed the sentiment from my computer then cut it out to make it fit the space.  The bird was cut from book paper, then colored with Dylusions Postbox Red ink.  I added washi tape and drew in a few music notes with a black pen.  The card was cut from a Spellbinders Labels 17 die.

Rolodex Card Backs

Rolodex Card Backs
Don't forget the backs of your cards.  This is a great opportunity to use your embossing folders, scraps of decorative paper, and stamps!

Just one more thing before I close.  I wanted to show you that you can make this especially personal by adding photos of family members.  I've blurred their faces, just because I thought I should.  Here are a few samples.

This shape was cut with a Movers and Shapers Mini Ornamental die by Tim Holtz.  Such a perfect size for the Rolodex cards.

For the tabs, I used various punches in my stash, plus a couple of dies from the Spellbinders Creative Tabs die set.  Love that one...and I use it a lot.

Just use what you have.  Experiment and have fun with it!  I know I did!

Thanks for stopping by!

I know...it's been a while!

Yes, I know I've been absent.  For a couple of years.  Or more?  And please don't take this as any indication that I'm going to open a new store or blog regularly!  I realize that haven't updated any of the links here.  But if I decide to "reappear" I will be sure to make the appropriate updates.  I'm not even sure I remember how!  LOL!

The reason for this blog post is due to a gift I made for a dear friend's birthday.  I wanted it to be special, and very personal.  Hopefully I accomplished that!  I posted a few photos in a closed Facebook group, and had a number of requests for more information.  So I decided this was the easiest and most expedient way to accomplish that!

This started off as a scripture Rolodex for my friend.  Then it grew into something more.  You will see that as we go along and I show more photos (in my Part 2 post?)  I altered a Petite Rolodex for this project.  It was an old one from the office, and the base was originally just plain black plastic.  After cleaning the dust and grime from it with alcohol and baby wipes, I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks to color the base.
This close up will show the color a little bit better.  Be sure to use colors that will show up on the black base.  That part was a bit more difficult than I anticipated.

I created the monogram in Microsoft Word by following this monogram tutorial I found through Pinterest.  It's a few steps...but so easy to follow her tutorial!  (For those of you who don't know, I'm a Pinterest addict!)  The gemstone around the monogram was a ribbon buckle I found at Hobby Lobby.  I easily snipped out the center bar to make it work.

To create the Rolodex cards, I simply cut cardstock scraps, then used a Corner Rounder on the upper edges.  I used a Rolodex Business Card Punch for the two holes in the bottom, which luckily, I already had!  I know there are several companies out there who make wafer thin dies to cut Rolodex cards...but this was the easiest and least expensive solution for me!  And what a perfect way to use up your cardstock and paper scraps!  Gotta love that!  Use what you have, and just enjoy the process!

Here are a few of the cards I made for her.  Please note that I am not compensated by anyone in any way for any of these products.  I'm just trying to make it easier for you to see what I used.  :)
The "Hope" ticket is from Tim Holtz Adage Tickets.  The pin is from Maya Road, and the rest is bits and pieces from my stash.

The stamp is called Grace and is from Verve Stamps.  The border punch I used is similar to this one.

This stamp is a Plain Jane from Verve Stamps.  I cut up the image and just played with it.  Oh, how I DO love Julee and her scripture stamps! I've about worn out the ones I have, and desperately need some new ones!!!

This stamp is also a Plain Jane from Verve.  I didn't see it on her website, so it may be sold out or discontinued.

This is made from a sticker I found at Hobby Lobby.  I had to cut it up to make it work, but I love that verse, and didn't have a stamp for it.

I used a Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle to cut this shape.  The stamp is from Printworks Stamps.  I probably bought it at Hobby Lobby with a coupon!  The sentiment was cut from a Spellbinders Polka Dot Frame.  If you follow the link you will see that it's the center of the smaller die.

This image is by Phyllis Harris from Unity Stamps.  It's called Your Wings Exist.  LOVE that stamp set, and I've used it numerous times.

This stamp is in a Recollections clear stamp set called Prayer Sentiments.  I bought at Michael's some time ago, but I think it's still available.
This sentiment is from a sticker sheet I bought at Hobby Lobby.  Lace and flower are from my stash.

The background for this card was created using some Hero Arts flower stamps I've had (and loved) for ages!  Surrender is my friend's "one little word" for 2015.  I cut the shape using a Spellbinders die.  I'm pretty sure it's Spellbinders Labels One.

This shape was cut using Spellbinders Labels Four.  The stamp is from Printworks, purchased at Hobby Lobby.  The flowers were made with a Martha Stewart punch.

The images on this card are from the stamp set Pray Continually by my friend Stephanie Ackerman of Homegrown Hospitality.  She has a whole line of stamps at Unity Stamps, and I love them all!

For some reason Blogger won't let me upload anymore pictures, so I will be back later with Part 2 if there is enough interest.

In the meantime, please ask if you have questions or comments about something I neglected to make clear.  Just leave a comment for me here and I'll get back to you.   I'm easy to find these days.

Thanks for stopping by...

Happy New Year?

Yes, I know I'm a little behind, wishing you all a Happy New Year 14 days late! Let's just say I have a more relaxed approach to life these days and leave it at that! Haha!

This is a picture of my 5 grandchildren taken just last month. I think their personalities show through quite well in their expressions here. LOVE that! ;)

First, I want to thank all of you who have emailed and called to check on me since closing my store. I'm alive and well...and it's going to be an AWESOME year for me! The last couple of months have been a bit "trying", I will admit. I've been super busy with closing the store and Christmas. I will admit that I am still learning to regroup after living in the fast lane for so long. But I can assure you that I finally have a grip, and life is good! It's all uphill from here!

I hope to be stamping again soon. And I desperately feel the need to get out my Tombows and color something. Who knows...I may even learn to use my Copics! At any rate, I will be back then.

Love and hugs to you all!

We saw The Beatles Love , Viva Elvis and "O" . Honestly, I couldn't pick a favorite! They were all absolutely awesome!

Geaux Tigers!

So sorry that I don't have anything creative for you today. I left town Friday afternoon headed for Tiger Stadium aka Death Valley! On Saturday the Tigers beat the Florida Gators 41-11, and I was among 93,000 other fans sitting in the stadium watching it happen. It was my first LSU game, and it was awesome, I tell ya!

We had a fabulous time at the game. But the tailgaiting, both before and after the game, made for the perfect day! Great friends, great food, great entertainment! Thanks to our hosts, Scott and Joanna! Here is Joanna with her son Clinton.
I hope your weekend was a wonderful as mine! I will be back as soon as I can with something crafty. Until then...

Winter Wishes Altered Notebook

Hi everyone! This is a notebook that I make each and every year. These make such wonderful gifts for a teacher or co-worker. You can find the tutorial HERE from several years ago. A different version of the notebook can be found HERE and another HERE .

If you follow the instructions in the tutorial you shouldn't have any trouble, so I'm going to skip the directions for making it. The stamp set for the ornament is JustRite Stampers Deck The Halls cling mounted set. I stamped it with Fired Brick Distress Ink , then cut it out. The teal layer, and red ornament layer behind the stamped image were cut using Spellbinders 2011 Ornament Nestabilities . The tag was stamped with JustRite's Christmas Mini Sentiments .

This picture is so you can see the focal image in a little greater detail. All designer paper used on the notebook is from the Prima Marketing North Country 6 x 6 paper pad . The ribbon is May Arts , and the flower in the center is from the North Country Avon Rose flower collection.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today. I hope you have a wonderful week! Until the next time...

Winter Birdhouse

Hi everyone! I'm so excited about my card today, because it was a pure joy to make.
The stamp I used is Stampavie's Winter Birdhouse by Tina Wenke! Isn't that the sweetest image? And I just LOVED coloring it with my Tombow Markers! I used White Opal Liquid Pearls for the snow, and sprinkled Ultrafine Transparent Glitter on it while it was still wet.

The image was cut with Spellbinders Labels Eighteen . The designer paper is from the Prima Marketing North Country 6 x 6 Paper Pad . The bow was made with May Arts 1" Teal Sheer ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a fantastic week!

Share The Warmth

Hello from the soggy south! Not complaining...we desperately needed the rain, and it makes for a perfect day to stay inside to stamp! As if we need an excuse...right?

I absolutely adore this gorgeous stamp from Stampendous . It's called Forest Cottage Scene , and it certainly makes a warm and cozy holiday card!

I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Onyx Black Versafine Ink then colored with Tombow Markers using a damp paint brush to blend.

To add sparkle I used my Quickie Glue Pen as an adhesive, then sprinkled on Crystal Ultrafine Glitter .

The sentiment is from Stampavie's Holiday Wishes clear stamp set. So many nice sentiments in that one!

As promised, here are the Tombow Markers I used to color the image. The cardstock is two different shades from the Prismatics Baby Blue Trio.

Thanks for stopping by today. Until the next time...

Deck the Halls!

What a great weekend! I even managed to sneak in a little creative time! It seems that doesn't happen often enough these days.

This card was a lot of fun to make! Since the new Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments dies arrived earlier this week, I was anxious to use the matching JustRite Deck the Halls cling stamp set! The ornament on the left was cut and embossed using Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornaments .

That beautiful designer paper is from the Bo Bunny Blitzen 6 x 6 paper pad. Such a beautiful colors...every single page!

The images were stamped on white cardstock, then colored with the Tombow Markers as shown. Since I didn't stamp on watercolor paper I used the N00 Blender Pen to add the color to the paper.

Short and sweet, I know. But this card is pretty straightforward so I'm sparing you all the extra babble.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today!
